Easy, Yet Beautiful, DIY Mason Jars

There are millions of ways to create décor with mason jars, but how do you choose what to do with yours? DIY mason jars are the perfect balance between style and functionality in the home. To get started, it’s best to think about what your household needs – maybe one room needs more lighting, or some drawers need organization. It’s time to roll up your sleeves and tap into your creativity to solve your household problems with beautiful mason jars!

Declutter with Stunning Mason Jar Storage

A little paint will spruce up your mason jar and keeping your home clutter-free. All you need is rubbing alcohol, paint and any other decorative materials desired. To begin, wash the mason jars if used before, wipe down with rubbing alcohol and then wash with warm water one last time. Let the mason jars dry completely before painting on two coats of your favorite color.

Chalk paint (as seen in the photos below) is a popular option because it gives the mason jars a matte finish rather than a shiny one. If you prefer the distressed look, rub sandpaper on the areas you want less paint on. Don’t forget to use sealant as a final touch for long lasting storage jars.

Save counter space by making yourself a mason jar wall caddy! It’s a lot easier than it sounds. Gather the following materials:

  • Hose clamp for each mason jar
  • Backing of your preference (painted or stained wood is most commonly used)
  • Picture hanging kit and screws

Screw the hose clamp onto the backing and untighten to fit the previously decorated mason jars in. Then, hang the backing as if it were a picture on the wall. That’s it! Use your decorative wall caddy for organizing your bathroom, kitchen or office.

Decorate Any Room

Mason jars aren’t just for storage – they can be transformed into décor for any gathering, season or room. Bring your mason jars to life by adding paint, distressed details, sparkle and more. Try using themed crafts to add flare to a special occasion or party! For everyday décor, place pictures inside for DIY frames or make your own terrarium.

A simpler, go-to idea is to add real or decorative flowers to a painted mason jar. Any mason jar can be used as a table centerpiece or an accent on an accent table. The options are endless, but narrow it down by using colors and products that you love to look at!

Brighten the Room

Need lighting but on a budget? Add light to a room with easy and bright mason jar lamps. Decorate your DIY mason jars while keeping in mind that there will be a light source inside. Solid, darker colors may not be the best option, but something like a frosted mason jar with a candle is a great idea for winter! Place glue on the inside of the mason jar and spread it around with a sponge to frost. You’ll immediately have the best entryway lighting for cold winter nights or a warm nightstand accent. If you don’t want to use candles, add decorative string lights inside for some subtle lighting.
