DIY Graduation Party Decorations

Graduation parties are special gatherings to celebrate one of the most exciting days of your loved ones’ lives. Add a personal touch to the day with DIY graduation party decorations. Use photos of the graduate, memories of family and friends and graduation-inspired DIY crafts to remind the guests how much the graduate has accomplished! We’ve found some special ideas that will put a smile on everyone’s face.

DIY Photo Table Runner

What a better way to celebrate a milestone than with pictures of precious memories? DIY graduation party decorations are a great way to showcase those fun throwback pictures with the graduate’s guests. For example, a DIY photo table runner will create fun table talk while celebrating. All you need is:

  • Strip of fabric to fit the table (Ruffled used muslin)
  • Photos or copies of photos to cover the fabric
  • Hot glue gun

Start by laying out the fabric and deciding how you want to place your photos. Don’t worry if there are duplicates – just place each one on either end of the runner. Once you’ve decided on a placement strategy, use the hot glue gun to stick the photos on. You’ll only need a dot of glue for each photo. Ruffled suggests finishing half the runner and then switching to the other end to make sure all the photos fit.

DIY Painted Photo Bottles

Decorate the tables at the graduation party with DIY painted photo bottles. No matter the color scheme, these photo bottles will remind the graduate of cherished memories. Eighteen25 used these as a Mother’s Day gift, but we think the bottles would also add some fun to a graduation party. Use the graduate’s favorite colors or colors that will match the party theme.

This project calls for:

  • Glass bottles with corks
  • Paper clips
  • Photos
  • Acrylic paint

To begin, pour the paint into the jar and swirl it around until all sides are covered. Let the jar drain and dry out by placing it upside down for at least 24 hours. Cut the top of the corks off and stick the paper clip on the top. Add the photos methodically or randomly – either works!

DIY Balloon Photo Gallery

Take a walk down memory lane with this DIY balloon photo gallery project. You really can’t get any simpler than DIY graduation party decorations like this.

DIY Balloon Photo Gallery

Wedding Chicks suggests you use:

  • 4X6 photos
  • 5X7 card stock
  • Curling ribbon
  • Balloons
  • Hole punch
  • Double sided tape

Tape the photos to the centers of the 5×7 card stock with a hole punched into the top center. Then, attach the curling ribbon to all of the photos. You can either buy balloons or blow them up yourself, but take a photo and attach the other end of the ribbon a balloon. Finally, let the balloons go inside the house or tent!

If you want to have a static photo gallery, place double sided tape at the top of each balloon. If not, let the balloons float naturally for a more relaxed look. The guests will love walking around looking at all the graduate’s favorite memories!

DIY Graduation Drink Glasses

Whether you’re serving mocktails or cocktails, these DIY graduation drink glasses are the cutest! They are festive, easy to make and will remind the guests what they are celebrating! To make these glasses, you’ll need:

  • Black card stock
  • Black and white striped straws (try any of these)
  • Drinking glasses of your choice (mason jars, plastic cups, etc…anything will look good!)
  • Glue

For the caps, cut out 2 inch squares and poke a hole in the middle where the straw will go through. Then, cut rectangles that measure 5 X 2 inches, roll them into circles and glue the ends together. Glue the circles on the squares and slide the cap onto the straw. Add glue to the cap and straw if you want them to stay in place.

With the black card stock, cut out a band to glue around the drinking glasses of your choice. You can add a graduation date, the graduate’s name and/or the graduate’s picture. It’s up to you, but it will all impress the graduate and guests!

The best part about these DIY graduation party decorations is that they are adaptable for other celebrations! Weddings, holidays, birthdays…you name it! But for graduation, it’s key to make the graduate remember the memories that got them to where they are today. What better way to do that then with DIY graduation party decorations?
